Participants will learn the science behind hurricanes, then they'll test their knowledge by attempting to build a tower that can resist a simulated hurricane using only basic building materials.
Participants learn about the natural science of hurricanes and how that affects engineering concerns. They will then test their knowledge with a hands-on engineering challenge. Recommended for teens. Registration is recommended.

The Upper Tampa Bay Regional Public Library was dedicated and opened to the public on January 8, 2005. Renamed in 2017 as the Maureen B. Gauzza Public Library, the 26,000 square foot facility offers a full range of services including books, magazines, DVDs, music, Internet access, a variety of programs and activities for children and adults, a large community room for meetings, and a beautiful gazebo.
